Architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) has been honoured at the Hong Kong Green Building Awards, with three of its high-profile projects recognised for sustainable design, operational excellence, and innovation across typologies and geographies.
The biennial awards, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), celebrated projects demonstrating leadership in sustainable planning, design, and construction.
The 2025 theme, “Towards Carbon Neutrality • Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment,” emphasised alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the integration of green financing strategies.
ICC: Sustainable super-tall office tower sets operational benchmark

The International Commerce Centre (ICC), a 118-storey super-tall tower completed in 2011, received the Grand Award for Operational Excellence.
As the first building in Asia to achieve LEED v5 certification, ICC demonstrates leadership in sustainable facilities management. The tower integrates office, retail, hotel, and recreation spaces within the Union Square development and is anchored by a major transportation hub, setting regional standards for connectivity and responsible urban growth.
Mongkok East Development: Sustainable mixed-use innovation

KPF’s Mongkok East Development, a 320-metre mixed-use, transit-oriented project for Sun Hung Kai Properties, earned a Merit Award in the New Buildings Category: Projects Under Construction and/or Design – Commercial.
The project exemplifies high-performance, sustainable design in a complex urban context, reflecting KPF’s commitment to energy-efficient planning and flexible commercial space solutions.
MGM Cotai resort: Sustainability in existing facilities

The MGM Cotai resort in Macau, conceived as a composition of overlapping jewel-like boxes, received a Merit Award in the Existing Buildings, Facilities Management category. The recognition highlights operational excellence in maintaining sustainable practices in large-scale hospitality environments.
Together, these projects underscore KPF’s leadership in designing sustainable, high-performance environments across sectors—from super-tall towers to resorts—demonstrating the firm’s ability to deliver operational and environmental excellence in diverse building typologies.
