Wood Partners targets fast-growing Tomball with 204-unit Alta Timberline

US-based real estate developer and builder Wood Partners has broken ground on Alta Timberline, a 204-unit luxury multifamily community in Tomball, Texas, marking its latest move in one of the fastest-growing suburbs of the Houston metropolitan area.

Located in northwest Harris County, Alta Timberline sits at the transition between Houston’s urban fabric and the piney woods that define Tomball’s semi-rural character. The project’s name is a nod to the tall pines and wooded corridors that distinguish the area from inner-loop Houston submarkets — a positioning that reflects the continued demand for neighbourhood-oriented living with access to a major employment hub.

“This project reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality housing in locations that give residents direct access to community offerings, while also providing premium amenities and thoughtful design,” said Bart Barrett, managing director at Wood Partners. “Tomball continues to see strong demand from consumers who want quick access to Houston while still enjoying a more open, neighbourhood-oriented environment.”

The development will comprise seven three-storey buildings offering a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as one-bedroom layouts with a study. Units will feature stainless steel appliances, in-unit washers and dryers, granite countertops, custom cabinetry, designer wood-style plank flooring and walk-in closets. Ground-floor residences will include private yards, while upper-level units will offer personal balconies.

Amenity provision is positioned to match the project’s luxury branding. Plans include a clubhouse, resort-style pool, shaded outdoor kitchen area with gas grill stations, seating and televisions, two pickleball courts, a dog park, pet spa, business lounge, social lounge, fitness centre and coffee bar.

Beyond the residential offering, Wood Partners is collaborating with the City of Tomball on a series of access and pedestrian connectivity improvements in the surrounding area. These include a new sidewalk and pedestrian access gate linking the community to the existing pavement along Lacey Road in front of Blackshear Elementary School, as well as a new median cut and turn lane on Hufsmith-Kohrville Road to improve traffic flow and access to the main entrance.

Alta Timberline is scheduled for delivery in May 2027.

Wood Partners remains active across the Texas market, with more than two dozen multifamily communities currently operating throughout the state. Nationally, the Atlanta-headquartered developer has been involved in the acquisition and development of more than 115,000 multifamily homes, representing a combined capitalisation of $24bn, and currently owns more than 80 properties comprising approximately 25,000 homes across the United States.
