Kevin Nyhoff, AIA, has been appointed as Regional Design Director for the West Region of CannonDesign, a global design firm delivering architecture, engineering, and consulting services across healthcare, education, science, workplace, and civic sectors. Based in Portland, Nyhoff will oversee design across the firm’s offices in Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine, and Denver, guiding design quality, mentoring teams, and strengthening client engagement.
Since joining CannonDesign in 2021, Nyhoff has influenced the firm’s design culture across the West and beyond, bringing a collaborative, place-based approach that balances conceptual vision with detailed execution. His recent projects include the SPC Jesus S. Duran Eastside Library, Rosena Ranch Fire Station, Cal State Long Beach’s College of Health and Human Services Building, San Bernardino Valley College’s Instructional Student Services Building, and the University of Utah’s Eccles Hospital and Health Campus.

Nyhoff’s career spans 33 years, with prior experience establishing and co-leading an award-winning practice in Calgary and Vancouver. Returning recently to the Pacific Northwest after four years leading CannonDesign’s Southern California offices, he brings extensive regional insight to his new role.
“What I love most is establishing a concept, telling a story, and guiding a vision throughout all phases of development and construction,” said Nyhoff. “I look forward to leading talented teams, shaping design culture, and realising ambitious projects across the West.”
David Polzin, Executive Director of Design at CannonDesign, commented: “Kevin has had a lasting impact on our design culture. This role gives him the platform to elevate design standards and reinforce the firm’s identity as a design-forward practice rooted in Living-Centred Design.”
